La BBC afirmó haber “sentado un precedente” para los otros medios de comunicación, al publicar una lista con todos los enlaces a su sitio que han sido eliminados de los resultados de las búsquedas en Google como parte del derecho al olvido.
Como recordarán, tras el fallo del Tribunal de Justicia de la Unión Europea que instauró el derecho al olvido en Europa, se ha generado una gran polémica ante el hecho que si bien la idea es eliminar de los resultados de Google información “irrelevante y desactualizada” sobre alguien, también es muy utilizado para que figuras públicas eliminen el registro de sus malas acciones, pese a que el Tribunal detalló que ésto no podía ser utilizado para olvidar “el papel desempeñado por el interesado en la vida pública“.
El jefe de políticas editoriales de la BBC, David Jordan, señaló que no solo se publicaron los enlaces ya eliminados, sino que además se irá actualizando esta información acorde a las próximas solicitudes bajo el derecho al olvido.
